Privacy Policy for MyMunchi app

Nallelab built MyMunchi ("Service") as a freemium app with optional paid subscription features. This Service is provided by Nallelab and is intended for use as is.

This page explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use MyMunchi.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

MyMunchi does not require you to create an account.

Depending on how you use the app, the following information may be processed:

  • Camera access, if you choose to scan food barcodes.
  • Food and nutrition data that you save in the app.
  • Daily goals, food logs, saved foods, and saved meals stored on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled on your device, in your iCloud account through Apple CloudKit.
  • A device identifier (identifierForVendor) when registering app access with our backend.
  • Your App Store original transaction identifier, which is used to identify and verify that you have a valid subscription.
  • A backend access token stored securely in the iOS Keychain after subscription registration.
  • Feedback messages that you choose to send to us through the app.
  • Basic technical information associated with backend requests, such as app version and platform.

How We Use Information

We use information only for the operation of MyMunchi, including to:

  • provide barcode scanning and nutrition lookup functionality;
  • save and sync your food diary and goals;
  • verify and recognize valid subscriptions;
  • enable access to subscription-gated features;
  • receive and review feedback you send to us; and
  • maintain, secure, and improve the Service.

Subscription Verification

MyMunchi uses your App Store original transaction identifier to confirm that you have an active subscription. This identifier may be sent to our backend service and checked against Apple's App Store systems in order to validate subscription status.

Barcode Lookup and Backend Services

When you scan a barcode, the barcode is sent to our backend service at mymunchi-api.nallelab.com so the app can look up product information.

Our backend may use third-party nutrition data sources to fulfill barcode lookup requests. At the time of writing, the codebase supports providers such as OpenFoodFacts and FatSecret through the backend. Those services receive the barcode lookup request through our server rather than directly from the app.

Feedback

If you send feedback from within the app, we receive the message you submit together with limited related metadata such as device identifier, app version, platform, and subscription transaction identifier when available. We use this information only to process feedback, investigate issues, and improve the app.

Storage and Security

  • App data is stored locally on your device.
  • If Apple iCloud/CloudKit sync is enabled for the app on your device, your app data is also stored in your iCloud account and handled by Apple.
  • Backend access tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.
  • We take reasonable steps to protect information processed by the Service, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs in the app.

Information may be shared only as needed with:

  • Apple, for App Store purchases, subscription verification, and iCloud/CloudKit sync;
  • our backend infrastructure providers, to operate the Service; and
  • nutrition data providers used by our backend to answer barcode lookup requests.

Data Retention

  • Data you save in MyMunchi, such as food logs, saved foods, meals, and goals, remains on your device until you delete it.
  • If iCloud sync is enabled, synced app data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it from the app or from your iCloud account.
  • Feedback messages and related support metadata may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide support, investigate issues, improve the app, and maintain service security.
  • Subscription verification and backend registration records, including the App Store original transaction identifier and technical metadata associated with registration, may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to verify subscription access, prevent abuse, and maintain service integrity.

Your Choices

  • You can choose not to grant camera access. If you do, barcode scanning will not be available.
  • You can choose whether to use iCloud sync through your Apple device settings.
  • You can delete app data from within the app by using the reset functionality, or by removing the app from your device.
  • You can choose whether to send feedback through the app.

Children's Privacy

This Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
